About

Welcome to my blog, Thoughts from the Wood, where I will be documenting my adventure along the Pacific Crest Trail this summer!

My name is Connor Timm. I am 26 years old and live in Orange County, California. I have worked for 5 years as an engineer in the medical device industry at a company called MicroVention that manufactures a huge variety of beneficial devices including stents, catheters, stroke treatment devices, and aneurysm treatments. I spend a considerable amount of my spare time hiking and camping, both locally in Southern California and through travels to the high mountains and national parks of the western US. My other major hobby is playing video games, where I find similar experiences of wonder and escapism in exploring fantasy worlds as I do in exploring real-world mountains and meadows during a hike. I also am fond of rock and folk music and have put quite a bit of effort into learning instruments and music theory in the hopes of creating music of my own one day.

In fact, the very name of this website is a play on the title of a certain album by British band Jethro Tull that embodies much of the ethos of what I hope to accomplish with this blog. Just as music can transport one to another dimension, I hope to be able to share my journey through this blog in such a way that you may be able to envision the trail like you were in my shoes.

Though I explain some details about the Pacific Crest Trail in my blog, if you are curious to find out more about the trail, visit the Pacific Crest Trail Association website.

Happy Trails!
